The Municipal Elections in Ontario are on October 26th, 2026. Candidates can file nomination forms as of May 1, 2026, until Nomination Day on August 21, 2026.

During the 2022 Municipal Election, Green Orillia in collaboration with ~dozen community organizations issued a robust 32-question questionnaire to all 30 candidates in the race, covering a wide range of questions from housing, environment, social and economic issues. It was one of the most comprehensive and engaging candidate engagements Orillia has seen in recent history. 15 of the 30 candidates completed the questionnaire. The unedited results were distributed to our email list of nearly 1,000 people and on our website and social media. 7 of the 9 council members that were elected had completed the questionnaire.

Introducing the 2026 Municipal Candidate Questionnaire! At this phase we are inviting the community at large to contribute questions you would want your candidates to answer. In the coming months, in an act of radical transparency, we will post all of the questions received in their original form. Then, in collaboration with a consortium we will work to synthesize the questions (i.e. grouping similar ones together) into a final long form questionnaire.

We did not and do not intend to edit, grade, judge or otherwise comment on the candidate questionnaire responses. We hope that candidate’s answers speak for themselves.
